We were living in Saudi Arabia.
I was in 8th grade. I was on the swim team. I swam every day and I loved it. I was selected to go to Bahrain to swim against other kids in an international meet. I was thrilled!
I was not thrilled about the morning practices. We had to be at the pool at 6am.
Now, my mother is an excellent cook. When we lived in Saudi, she had to make everything from scratch. She made all of our favorites - Eggplant parmesan, veal cutlets, lamb chops, chicken in the pan... Yummy!! Everything she made was made with olive oil and garlic. We are Italian and we like all that stuff.
But, at 6am... during calisthenics... after wonderful dinners the evening before... you have tooting jumping jacks... You have tooting sit ups... You have tooting windmills... I am surprised that I wasn't tortured by the other kids... Maybe my toots covered up their toots... Oh how I dreaded those morning calisthenics...
