Marked Mail

I've been shafted by the USPS again!

You all remember that I won the book, The Devil Wears Prada from Fefyfomanna. I read it. I loved it. Right at the beginning of the Christmas rush, I put it out for dibs and Crazy MomCat won it.

Because I had such trouble with Media Mail last Christmas, I put the book in a flat rate priority mail envelope. I paid $4 and change to send it, but I wanted MomCat to have it. AND I wanted her to have it ASAP.

I got an email from MomCat. The envelope arrived at MomCat's house. It was EMPTY! Someone stole her book. People! That's twice in two years. I mean really... who wants a used copy of Prada? It had a lovely little note in it, but no cash - no gift cards - no nothin! I wonder if the USPS has it in for me - is my mail Marked Mail?? Is there such a thing?

So, if you want me to send you a book... ain't happening. I don't do books in the mail any more. You'll just have to come and get it.

Wow, I am so shocked! I've heard of people stealing cards thinking there was money/checks inside - but a book?! What in the world could they possibly want with a book. I can't even believe she actually received the envelope.

Oh good grief! Maybe you should try a BOX!

How VERY weird!! I had that book with me on the plane to NYC. I left it in the seat pocket. I hope someone enjoyed reading it!! So, on the way home, we had "Movies on Demand"...and I watched it. It's never as good as the book.

I'm sorry I haven't emailed you an explanation about my DH's job. I put it on my blog today for everyone who wants to know.

:-) Blessings.

Susan

That's terrible. Maybe if you marked it "Tax Form" it would get through with NO problem!!!!

tax form? Funny! But how frustrating about having the book(s) stolen! Not very confidence inspiring is it?

How insane, really. I've lost letters and such- but never "things." :(
